“Storm”
Year: 2023
Dimensions: 14x17 inches.
Medium: Drawing and China Ink.
This was less about the subject matter and more about the process. The process was that of chaos and randomness. The textured background was made by taking the blank paper outside during a heavy rain storm and apply drops of ink so that the storm creates the shapes and gradations onto the paper. After the surface has been prepped I draw lines in dark china ink without plan or strategy, just let the bush and arm control themselves, to draw in the now. In the mess of line I vaguely saw the shape of a figure so I used that to ground the whole piece to give it a small bit of order in the mess of chaos.
