Frank Cho (1971 - present), a comic book artist and illustrator, had created a series of ballpoint pen drawings consisting of nude women that were meticulously cross hatched and coupled with solid basic shapes offered the inspiration for Wild.

Donavon’s technique was slightly different from Cho’s as he followed the form on the figure with the pen rather than with straight layered lines. To contrast with the body the hair was made with china ink for it’s dark nature and consistently on the paper. The hair juxtaposes the body with it’s randomness that comes with the brush compared with the very ordered repetitive cross hatching process of pen creating this grid patterned.
